Private teaching

I have been teaching privately since 2006, and have experience of a wide range of ages and abilities. As well as teaching the flute and recorder, I provide tuition in music theory and can also assist pupils with their GCSE and A-Level Music requirements. I currently enjoy teaching pupils ranging from age nine up to retirement age, and from beginner to post Grade 8. I have entered pupils for ABRSM and Trinity College London exams, with a 100% pass rate. Not all my pupils choose to do exams, some just like to play for fun, although it is always useful to have a goal in mind to work towards. I collaborate with one of my teaching colleagues to put on a public Pupils’ Concert, which is a great way for students to gain experience and confidence performing for a friendly audience.

In addition to my private teaching practice I am also employed as a Deputy Tutor for the Junior Conservatoire at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and most recently have been working with young musicians in Ely at Making Music Changing Lives.
